Biofuel Testing and Deployment Timeline

In line with the Secretary of the Navy’s Energy goals, testing and deploying of ships and aircraft with biofuel blends. The Navy successfully deployed on biofuel blends through the Great Green Fleet in 2016. Some key examples of these testing and deployment milestones are listed below:

Additional testing was successfully conducted as part of the Rim of the Pacific  (RIMPAC 2012) exercise using carrier-based aircraft aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (F-18 C/E/F, MH-60 R/S, EA-6B, E-2C, C-2A), three surface combatants (USS Chafee (DDG 90), USS Chung Hoon (DDG 93), USS Princeton (CG 59)), and an oiler (USS Henry S. Kaiser, T-AO-187).

All testing was conducted with no performance issues.
